Job Description: Junior CAD Design Engineer Apprenticeship


Job Purpose: As a Junior CAD Designer able to work within a sales / design environment to support customer requirement, using Solid Works to create 3D models and designs to a high standard, initially working from an enquiry or initial layout to develop products from concept to manufacture, from quote to Drawings to meet customer specification.


Be able to work above and beyond the call of duty as and when reqiuered, Working closely between the sales team and manufacturing, ability to communicate effectively between colleagues, client and suppliers.


CAD Design Job Duties within the scope of continuous improvement and the necessary training:

- Able to work using own initiative and with guidance and training or supervision to meet the daily demand.
- Achieving results while using good communication between sales and management.
- Able to create structured bills of material.
- Redesign and design from existing Drawings.
- Design bespoke from fresh drawings.
- Design bespoke from standard product drawings.
- Work within the scope of ISO 9001.
- Design products within the boundaries of the machinery.
- Observing control points for quality and health & safety, acting upon to correct any found non- conformance during the drawing stage.
- Demonstrating good attention to detail.
- Understanding of Sheet metal operations and fabricated products
- Ability to work to tight deadlines is the objective


Team Working:

- Work as part of the technical team.
- Ability to work with production staff to develop a team work relationship.
- Ensure all production staff is kept up to date with any changes.
- Investigating drawing issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
- Maintain and share of professional and technical knowledge also attending lean manufacturing workshops / training sessions when required.
